Group for numerical modeling of abdominal aortic aneurysm
Short description of the research area
We submit that combining realistic behavior of abdominal aorta (growth and remodeling under altered homeostatic conditions, modeling of different layers etc.) together with model of the intraluminal thrombus, and considering distribution of significant proteins during its ‘maturation’ will give us right answer why AAA is growing and when it will rupture. Our aims are: development of 3-D mathematical theory of growth and remodeling within abdominal aorta wall considering its three main parts, tunica intima, media, and adventitia, numerical modelling of three dimensional structural changes (maturation) of a clot during aneurysmal enlargement, and formulation of complete theory of aneurysmal enlarging.
