GROUP FOR BIOMECHANICS

Group for biomechanics

Short description of the research area

Biomechanical methodology is basically studying and understanding of human movement, as approached within kinesiology and sports science. For this purpose, we measure spatial (3D) kinematics, reaction of the basis and multi-channel surface electromyography (EMG), followed by signal processing and analysis. Examples of movement types that we usually measure, analyze and strive to diagnose are: human gait - where gait analysis method is becoming more standard in various medical applications; and different patterns of movement which occur during person's daily and/or sports activities. It is also possible to measure and evaluate static body positions. The aim of our research may also be the estimation of the athletic performance or muscle fatigue that occurs when static situations or with exercise.
